EMEA Consumer & Online Attorney - London - Job Description

Microsoft’s LCA Worldwide Sales Group has an immediate opening for an experienced attorney to support the newly formed Consumer and Online (C&O) organization for EMEA. This position will be located in London with close collaboration with field lawyers supporting C&0 in their country/region as well as Redmond colleagues.

The C&O organization is responsible for focusing on and driving consumer customer opportunities across PC, mobile and online in international field regions and countries. Currently, C&O EMEA is a newly created +1000 employee organization located in 14 countries. This attorney will report into the C&O EMEA LCA Lead and directly support the EMEA C&O business development team, the EMEA C&O Network programming team, the EMEA Online marketing team as well as the EMEA APS team. He/she will also assist the EMEA C&O LCA Lead to drive the team of EMEA field lawyers dedicated to C&O legal support in large COI as well as extended COI subsidiaries.

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Partnering with the C&O Business Development team and the EMEA MSN Business Development team and be a legal lead for transactions throughout the region, including drafting and negotiating transactional documents, including agreements relating to the sale, distribution, licensing or marketing of services or content with consumer ecosystem third-party partners.
• Maintaining localized templates for various C&O transactions and programs in the region,
• Sitting in the EMEA Microsoft Advertising (APS) Leadership team and counseling the EMEA APS General manager as well as the EMEA APS team.
• Delawyerizing some activities through contract simplification and setting up standard training and practices, rolling them out throughout the region `with the support of C&O field lawyers.
• Ensuring close collaboration on C&O matters and deals with LCA colleagues from Redmond on a routine and consistent basis.
• Supporting the coordination with internal and external legal and policy specialists, as necessary, to help analyze and address legal and regulatory issues in the region,
• Contributing to other transactions in the region that may have consumer, advertising and/or mobile implications.

• Successful candidates must have significant experience drafting and negotiating a broad variety of agreements concerning the distribution, licensing, or ownership of software and online services, and have a core understanding of product development legal issues. An international experience, some strong language skills or an experience with telecom, privacy, security and consumer Internet safety regulatory and policy issues would be considered as a plus. They must be self-starters and effective in driving cross-group projects across geographies and organizations, collaborate well with colleagues located in many various locations and be a great team player. They must also have excellent analytic, legal drafting and oral and written communication skills. They must be action oriented with an ability to prioritize and manage fast moving clients, think strategically and always adopt a problem solving approach to issues.
